Why am I not receiving Apple iCloud calendar invitations to my Gmail?

When it comes to digital scheduling, smooth synchronisation between platforms is crucial. However, many people find themselves frustrated when Gmail doesn’t display calendar invitations from Apple Calendar users, or when invites sent from Apple’s Calendar app don’t go through. In this post, I will show you the possible underlying cause of this issue and offer a clear, step-by-step solution.

The Problem:

  1. Scenario 1: You aren’t receiving calendar invitations in your Gmail inbox sent from Apple Calendar users.
  2. Scenario 2: While you can send invitations from your Google Calendar, they don’t seem to get delivered when sent from your Apple Calendar app.

Root Cause:

  • Your main email address (e.g., Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo) doubles as your Apple ID.
  • Your primary calendar is not the iCloud calendar associated with your Apple ID email.

Solution (As Demonstrated in the Video Below):

  1. Access iCloud via your desktop/laptop: Navigate to icloud.com and log in.
  2. Click on the ‘cog’ symbol to access the calendar Preferences. Click on ‘Advanced’.
  3. Next to “Invitations”, choose the “Email To” option. Note: This is especially useful if your primary calendar is not set to iCloud.
